Sometimes Google can overwhelm students. Enter a name, phrase, or event under research into the search engine and Google replies with a staggering number of hits. Students may scroll for a few minutes and then completely give up.

In this video, I show students how to force Google to search for particular file extensions (.edu, .org., .gov, etc.). Google then searches only those file extensions usually rewarding the researcher with not only a manageable number of hits – but hits that are actually worthy of the inquiry in the first place.
